How a club trip works

An outline of each club trip is written in our quarterly Footprints booklet and on our website.

Included in the description is the meeting time, departure time, trip grading and cost for shared transport.

The trip grading is shown in Footprints and the NPTC website. If you are unsure about anything, please contact the trip leader.

For most trips we meet at Sanders Park and share transport to the starting point. The time shown in the description is the expected walking time, stops for lunch etc and car travel must be added.

For safety we record everyone on the trip in a registration book.

Recorded in the book is your name, your cellphone number, a contact number for your family or friend in case of an emergency, and confirmation you have with you the necessary gear for this trip.

The driver, make of car, colour and number plate, are also recorded in case a car gets separated.

The leader keeps a carbon copy of registrations.

The trip leader will spread the group evenly between the cars and give a quick briefing.

Please bring clean footwear and spare clothes in a bag, for the return car ride.

Also bring the correct amount of cash for shared transport, and give it to the driver before departure. The club defines the amount to pay based on the distance traveled.

There is a checklist in Footprints and the website, listing what should be carried on a trip, especially when in the bush.

An experienced person will be selected to remain at the back of the group, to ensure no one gets separated from the group. Larger groups may be split into smaller groups. The trip leader is responsible for everyone on the trip, so please take heed of their instructions. If there is a problem let them know.

Enjoy your day!

At the end of your walk, kindly change out of your dirty boots and place in your bag.

Your driver will return you to Sanders Park.

The trip leader or designated person will write a report with photos which will appear in Footprints.
