First, we stop at the Whangam?mona Cemetery to visit the gravesites of the early settlers from this district. Parking on Marco Road, we then walk on a paper road, with a steady climb, down to the valley on the other side to the old, disused schoolhouse for lunch. No one lives in the valley now, but there were farms with families living here. We end the day, typically, at the Whangam?mona Hotel.
