Mountain Safety Taranaki runs weekend Outdoor First Aid Course at Vertical Horizons in Inglewood.
These popular first aid course covers the types of situations that can occur in the back country. The emphasis is on improvisation, coping
without emergency services, evacuation and group management. These courses have a scenario focus that provides an opportunity
to practice first aid skills in an outdoor environment.
An Outdoor First Aid certificate, valid for 2 years is issued to all successful participants. As well, this course offers unit standards.
This course is suitable for those 16 years of age and over . The course cost is $150 which covers food, accommodation and all course materials
for the weekend.

Sat 31 March/Sun 1 April MSC Outdoor 1st Aid Training Course at Vertical Horizons
Mountain Safety Council Taranaki is running a full weekend Outdoor First Aid course at Vertical Horizon Adventure Centre, Everett Road, Inglewood.
The Outdoor First Aid course is designed to equip outdoor users with the skills and knowledge necessary to manage accidents and sudden illnesses in the outdoor environment for a minimum of 24 hours.
You will complete a minimum of six hours of practical work in the outdoors treating, along with others in your group, people injured in mock accidents.
The course is divided into 16 modules, each with its own set of competencies. A course workbook and First Aid manual is issued to all participants. Candidates successfully completing this course may apply through New Zealand Mountain Safety Council to register the following unit standards 424, 6400, 6401, 6402.
Duration: Two days -- $170.00 covers accommodation and meals, all course materials, a First Aid book and course Unit Standards. An Outdoor First Aid Certificate valid for two years is issued to all successful participants. NPTC will also reimburse 100% of the course cost for leaders who complete this course.
Note: A refresher course is also available every 2 years, to update the holder of a current OFA certificate with recent changes in protocol and to refresh their skills. The course is skills-based, involving 'hands on' scenarios and practicals.
